Annie’s questionable sanity continues to deteriorate. Many of the characters in this comic have some sort of social and/or mental disorder, but it’s always fun to have someone that’s crazier than everyone else–someone who’s crazier than a bag of ninjas without being on hallucinogens. That honor is Annie’s alone.
It was revealed in “My Dinner With Annie” that she had, in fact, two children. One of them is the butter baby, revealed in ancient times of yore, and the other is the watermelon seen here. Since I revealed a bit of the butter baby’s background, I figured I’d reveal the story of the watermelon child. I can imagine this entire scenario playing out over several weeks, with ultrasounds, baby showers, the works. The “delivery” was likely performed by Little Winslow, as only someone with a fake degree in advanced doctornomics is prepared to deal with this sort of delicate fakery.
Somewhere on Annie’s refrigerator, among the photographs of smiling strangers clipped from clothing catalogs, is an ultrasound photo of a watermelon and a birth certificate made in PowerPoint. Her life is actually pretty sad, when you think about it.
