Contrary to what some might think, this comic is not belittling the artistic abilities of comic strip artists. Remember what Ben & Winslow used to look like? I actually think comic strips are a pretty liberating artform–doodles with structure, really–and you really don’t need any prior artistic training to make a comic strip great. Which is why I find Ben’s ideas about reading books or attending classes pretty funny.
I am all about bettering your craft. Successful artists (and I mean any sort of artist here–musician, actor, writer, romance novel cover artist) are always improving themselves. The lame ones are the ones who get complacent–or worse, cocky–with their abilities. Because let’s face it: no one is ever going to be as good as me.
I joke! I joke!
The Adventures of Anus Ninja would actually be pretty successful.

Andrew Kaye (known in some circles as AK) is the creator of Ben & Winslow and other questionable comics, many of which can be found in his deviantART gallery. He’s also the editor-in-chief of this magazine. Duh?
