Every gaming night, Ben, Kurt the Cynic, Apsara the Attention Whore, and Psychic Rob head over to Laura’s house to play RPG for Cool Dudes, one of the greatest role playing games of the late 90s. They eat junk food, talk about bad movies, and raid the dungeons of the dreaded Dark Viscount for gold, magical artifacts, and exotic weapons. And tonight, they’re doing all of that again. But with Winslow in the mix.
This is every RPG session I’ve ever been a part of. And I confess, there’s a bit of Winslow in me. I can’t help myself. My characters always have to be a little offbeat. Maybe not quite as odd as Winslorr the Orange and his Waffle Slaying Axe, but certainly not the standard warrior/wizard/cleric character. For example, in the last RPG I played in, my character was a troll monk who specialized in drunken boxing. His only equipment was his beer ration. It was awesome.
Rob’s suggestion at the end here sort of treats the Dungeon Master position as a punishment. Probably because I never liked being the Dungeon Master.
Every Friday this month will feature a Ben & Winslow comic revolving around an RPG session. Which is a little weird, because while the strips are spread across the entire month, the events that take place in the strips only span about six hours. You can read the first part here and the second part here.

Andrew Kaye (known in some circles as AK) is the creator of Ben & Winslow and other questionable comics, many of which can be found in his deviantART gallery. He’s also the editor-in-chief of this magazine. Duh?
