Trap-o-Lantern

Halloween is just around the corner, so I guess it’s time for a Halloween-themed comic this week.

Fun fact: For panel two, I tried to be as random as possible with the examples of Winslow’s jack-o-lanterns. I knew I wanted to have Dracula start off the list, because that’s traditional. Gorilla Grodd and Commander Will Riker were the first two ideas off the top of my head. I don’t know what sort of insight that gives you into my thought pattern, but there it is.

Another fun fact: I typically don’t use such strong curse words in my comics unless they add some sort of humor to the piece. Obviously foul language is crucial to the joke here, but sometimes a curse word has the desired effect even if it’s censored. Sometimes it’s the curse, and not the curse word, that’s funny.

Not here, though. That shit was necessary.

This is not the first time Winslow has replaced his head with a jack-o-lantern. And on at least one occasion, he didn’t even bother with the pumpkin.

Andrew Kaye (known in some circles as AK) is the creator of Ben & Winslow and other questionable comics, many of which can be found in his deviantART gallery. He’s also the editor-in-chief of this magazine. Duh?
