This is a movie that doesn’t exist but probably should. It would make a suitable follow-up to my first movie, Cartoon Zombie Freakout (which also doesn’t exist).

This one took a week to do.

As many of you know, I draw and color all of my comics by hand on a single sheet of paper. After a comic is done, I scan it into my computer and make some cosmetic changes. I darken the image to make the colors stand out, and then color all of the areas that should be bright white (the skin, any shiny metal pieces, speech bubbles) in a photo imaging program. The “whitening” is the most time consuming part, which is why many of my wordier comics don’t use speech bubbles. People are a different problem. More people means more white space*. Add in the fact that many of those people are carrying shiny weapons, well… that’s a whole shit-ton of digital coloring.

*All of the “cartoony” people in Ben & Winslow comics are bright white. “Normal” people have normal, healthy human skin tones**. It’s an easy way to tell the difference between the cartoon characters and the “real” people they live among. You know, aside from their size and their squat bodies and their stick arms and their lack of several major facial features.

**Except Attention Whore, who is very, very blue.
