A Foe Most Monstrous

Another important rule for questing is having the right tool for the right job. Winslow is obviously some sort of fighter/warrior/berserker-type so axes are clearly going to be his thing. He has dozens in his collection, but I don’t think he’s ever come upon a monster so horrible that it required him to break out… Salma.

Salma, as you can plainly see, is a massive double-bladed battleaxe forged in a Latin-American volcano by expatriate Scandinavian blacksmiths. It’s been etched with mystical double D runes and blessed by a dwarf king, a faerie queen, a dead pope, and, most recently, Selena Gomez. Salma is capable of dispelling magical enchantments and slicing through dragonscale, and can pass through airport metal detectors without raising any alarms. Hell, I can feel it’s power just writing about it.

Stay tuned next week for the THRILLING CONCLUSION to this adventure that’s only an adventure in Winslow’s head, apparently!

(Side note: Kurt’s expression in the center panel is modeled after a face my son makes all the time.)

Andrew Kaye (known in some circles as AK) is the creator of Ben & Winslow and other questionable comics, many of which can be found in his deviantART gallery. He’s also the editor-in-chief of this magazine. Duh?
