My wife and I just had another baby recently, so during the nine months of waiting I came up with several ideas for comics that involved pregnancy or childbirth. It’s not really difficult to bring these topics up in Ben & Winslow comics, because Winslow is notoriously freaked out by the idea.

This particular strip is one I’ve been sitting on for awhile, but I decided to draw it over again. I like layering more than one joke into these longer strips. Then I can end it–not with a punchline, but a one-two punchline. BAM! One of my goals was to have Winslow touch Ben’s entire head by the time he exits. Another goal was to convey a little more movement than my typical strips, which usually involve character standing around talking to each other.
